I have since been told the police here are very corrupt, i'll just keep my distance from them.

How blatant is that ???? Goes to show that having our skin color causes problems worldwide !!!! In most countries you coulda taken his number and complained to the local station but over there it'll problem just mean another officer looking to line his pockets with your hard earnt crust !!! Good to see you didn't let it get undeer your skin tho, cool and calm is the best way to deal with that situ......plus the thought of you having a 'who dropped the soap' experience out there in a cell probably helped make yout mind up !!!!
I have decided to stay away from the police here. The best way to deal with them if i have to is stay calm and make sure i have enough money on me. People complain about the police in London they have no idea.
I didn't fancy playing hide and seek with the soap bar or doing impression from Prisoner from Cell block H
