My arrival

Hi everyone

Well i arrived in Peru at about 11.30pm which is 4.30am England time, i was shattered. Everything was going really well until i got pulled by the customs, yeah bottom twitching time. I got taken into a room and told to sit down. I gotta say it felt like a scene out of Midnight express. They asked me what i was doing in Peru, It´s times like this that you are glad you can speak the language to a decent standard. I told them i was there to study spanish and i liked the Peruvian culture. That was a winner all day long, they began to smile and even shook my clammy wet hand as i left the room, i´m surprised they didn´t slip over the sweat which was dripping from my armpits. Your man was in like flint.

I am living with a spanish family who are very nice, nobody speaks a word of english so that is very good for me. I´m in the process of getting my computer hooked up so i can download my pictures and video diary. I am currently using the family computer which is quite old.

Day 1 week 1 is going slowly but that´s ok, i don´t want to run before i can walk, remember i´m your man on the ground i want to make sure i recce this place properly before you guys think about coming out.

Look out for my video downloads i´ll try and get them downloaded asap, i´ll probably have to go to an internet cafe.

Keep in touch guys speak soon

Don

Hola mi amigo Don

I am so relieved that you arrived safely in Peru and to be frank surprised that you are up and running so quickly on your blog. I only checked it on the off chance.

Well seems like you had a right experience at the airport, but your worldly wise nature got you through.

Nothing much happening on this end. I will try my best to write as much as I can in Spanish, hopefully your Spanish will improve so much that you will start to think in Espanlo.

Hablo pronto.

Hiya Don

Pleased to see you arrived in one piece despite Customs' attempt to fix that! Quick thinking on your part.

Your home for the next little while looks really nice. It will take time to get your bearings but I know you will soon be struggling remember how to say 'Next round's yours, isn't it?' in English in no time.

Looking forward to the next post.

Iggy,
Glad to hear you got there OK. Taylors plan to have you lifted at the airport obviously failed. We will have to try again in Bolivia. They wont listen the old 'I love your culture' trick! We are all a bit jaded after the MT xmas do. The first one you have missed! Take care Maz
